Rose Lucina
Translational Medicine master’s student at Queen’s University with interests spanning population health, cancer prevention and chronic-disease epidemiology.

Biography
Rose Lucina is a Translational Medicine master’s student at Queen’s University. She previously completed undergraduate studies in Health Sciences at Queen’s, where her interests developed across global health, cancer research and population health.
During her undergraduate training, she studied at Queen’s Bader Campus in the United Kingdom, volunteered with the Ivy Dementia Centre and completed an internship with Grace Health Centre. These experiences exposed her to health questions across different institutional and community settings and helped shape an interest in prevention, chronic disease and equitable care.
Her graduate research, supervised by Jennifer Flemming, examines the epidemiology of people living with both liver cirrhosis and inflammatory bowel disease in Ontario. Using ICES data and SAS Analytics, Rose investigates population-level patterns and outcomes, developing experience in administrative health-data research and chronic-disease epidemiology.
Her broader interests include cervical, breast and colorectal cancer, cancer-prevention strategies, dementia and Alzheimer-related research, biomarkers and intimate-partner violence. Across these subjects, she is interested in how population evidence can reveal differences in risk and outcomes and help inform prevention, earlier detection and more equitable care.
