Annalise Gignac
Queen’s University medical student and GHIRL researcher interested in cervical-cancer screening, prevention and health equity.

Biography
Annalise Gignac is a medical student at Queen’s University whose research interests centre on cervical-cancer screening, cancer prevention and health equity. She completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (Honours) in Mechanical Engineering with Co-op at the University of Windsor in 2024 and is pursuing her Doctor of Medicine at Queen’s University from 2024 to 2028. Her engineering background brings an additional perspective to questions about technology, measurement and how innovations can be designed around real clinical needs.
Her earlier engineering research examined capacitive micromachined resonator-based mass sensors and resulted in a 2024 publication in IEEE Sensors Letters. She later received a Summer Research Studentship from the Mach-Gaensslen Foundation of Canada to support her research development as her interests moved toward medicine, cancer prevention and equitable access to screening.
Annalise has also held substantial student leadership and community-service roles, including President of the Windsor Engineering Students’ Society and Co-President of Women in Engineering, alongside mentorship and tutoring through WINONE and the Windsor-Essex Children’s Aid Society. Her academic, leadership and service contributions have been recognized through awards including the ATHENA Scholarship, Engineers Canada Leadership Scholarship, Liburdi Engineering Mentorship Award and an NSERC Undergraduate Student Research Award.
