Biography

Jackline Ngowi is a Tanzanian medical doctor and research scientist whose work focuses on implementation science, health economics, digital-health innovation and data-driven approaches to improving health-system performance in low- and middle-income countries. She is pursuing a PhD in Translational Medicine at Queen’s University, is a Research Fellow in the Department of Community Medicine at MUHAS, and is an International Scholar with the Center for Global Health at the University of Pennsylvania.

Her research spans tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, NCDs, primary health care, sexual and reproductive health, maternal health, nutrition and adolescent health. Across these areas, she is particularly interested in how digital and artificial-intelligence-enabled tools can support earlier detection, active case finding, service delivery and continuity of care without losing sight of implementation context, equity, affordability and health-system readiness.

Jackline has contributed to implementation and programme work across DETEC-TB, SHARP, STOP-NCDs, CHANGEMAKER, GROWNUT II, repeat HIV testing and seroconversion in pregnancy, Dawa Mkononi, and operational research on H-IUD introduction in Tanzania, where her verified role was co-investigator and project coordinator. Her publication portfolio includes work on locally generated NCD evidence, primary health-care reform, maternal emergency transport, renal health among people living with HIV, digital health for drug-use disorders, school-health implementation and hormonal-IUD acceptability.

Her career also reflects GHIRL’s researcher-development model. Advanced training in implementation science, qualitative research, monitoring and evaluation, systematic reviews and meta-analysis complements experience in programme management and collaborative research. Within GHIRL, she contributes to implementation research, digital health, HIV/TB and NCD research, evidence synthesis, scientific coordination and mentorship.
