Biography

Hamza Walidi Rajabu is a Tanzanian public-health, research and development professional with more than a decade of experience across epidemiological research, programme leadership, project planning and management, monitoring and evaluation, nutrition, youth empowerment and community development.

At WEMA Health Innovation Tanzania, Hamza works as a Research Assistant and has contributed to public-health and epidemiological research since 2015. His experience includes the Prospective Urban and Rural Epidemiological Study, PURE COVID-19 research and work examining relationships among extreme weather events, resource scarcity and health in Tanzania.

His research responsibilities span field coordination, supervision of data collection, participant assessment and counselling, anthropometric and physical measurements, digital-data monitoring, quality assurance, workshop support and communication of research findings. This work places him at the practical interface between research protocols and the communities in which data are collected.

Hamza also serves as Executive Director of the Malengo Development Foundation, where he leads programmes in inclusive education, vocational and digital skills, entrepreneurship, health and nutrition, sexual and reproductive health and rights, wellbeing and youth development. Under his leadership, the foundation established MADIVoTEC and its Learn, Earn and Pay model to expand access to vocational and technical skills for young people facing economic barriers.

Earlier work with World Vision Tanzania on maternal and newborn health strengthened his experience in nutrition, community-health-worker capacity building, project monitoring and evaluation. He has also supported locally led development through Tanzania Development Trust and Ntuntu Orphans and Disabled People.

Hamza holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Family and Human Nutrition from Sokoine University of Agriculture and is pursuing a Master of Public Health at MUHAS.
