Amaan Hussaini
Queen’s University Health Sciences student and emerging researcher interested in psychiatry, medical education, health equity and translating evidence into meaningful improvements in care.

Biography
Amaan Hussaini is affiliated with Health Sciences at Queen’s University, where his academic interests have included mental health, substance use and emerging approaches to psychiatric care. His research experience includes collaborative evidence synthesis examining new and established interventional treatments for people living with both substance-use and psychiatric disorders.
That work brings together evidence on approaches including transcranial magnetic stimulation, ketamine and esketamine, electroconvulsive therapy and psychedelic-assisted interventions. The research reflects a wider interest in how new treatment approaches can be assessed critically—not simply for their promise, but for their clinical outcomes, safety and place within healthcare.
Alongside his health-sciences work, Amaan has taken on leadership responsibilities within student life at Queen’s. He has contributed to the functioning of shared student environments and has held responsibilities that involve organization, operations and stewardship within the Health Sciences community.
Across these areas, Amaan’s profile connects scientific inquiry with service and institutional responsibility: understanding new approaches to health while also contributing to the environments in which people learn, work and collaborate.
