Oswald Zeno Urassa

Oswald Zeno Urassa is a Tanzanian project coordinator, research professional and community-development practitioner with more than a decade of experience across health research, monitoring, community engagement, youth livelihoods and programme delivery.

He joined Pamoja Tunaweza Women’s Centre in 2015 as a Research Assistant and continued with the organization as it evolved into WEMA Health Innovation Tanzania. His responsibilities expanded across research coordination, field implementation, community liaison, participant tracking and project monitoring, and he now serves as a Project Coordinator.

His research work includes the Prospective Urban and Rural Epidemiology Study and the Climate and HIV Project. Within PURE, participant follow-up is combined with health education, allowing household and community contact to become an opportunity to strengthen understanding of noncommunicable diseases, prevention and continuity of care. Approximately 2,000 people have received health information and practical guidance through this work.

Oswald’s community-development work also extends into youth livelihoods. As Group Coordinator for FUMA Group under Malengo Development Foundation, he coordinates income-generating activities that build practical and entrepreneurial skills, create employment and promote environmentally responsible production.

He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Rural Development with a focus on Community Development from Sokoine University of Agriculture and is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Project Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation at the Tengeru Institute of Community Development.
