Katie Litner
Kinesiology Student, Queen’s University | Global Health Implementation Research Lab

Biography
Katie Litner is a third-year Kinesiology student at Queen’s University whose interests centre on global health, implementation science and equitable access to healthcare. She is particularly interested in understanding why effective health interventions do not always translate into accessible, acceptable and sustainable care across different communities.
Her research experience began through work examining the Social Return on Investment (SROI) of HPV self-sampling in Tanzania. Within this project, Katie contributed to qualitative data analysis by coding focus-group and interview data and identifying themes across stakeholder perspectives. The experience introduced her to the ways community experiences, health-system conditions and implementation decisions can influence whether a promising intervention succeeds in practice.
As a member of the Global Health Implementation Research Lab (GHIRL), Katie is continuing to build experience in global health research, qualitative methods and implementation science. Her work within the lab provides an opportunity to explore how evidence can be translated into health programmes that are responsive to communities and feasible within the systems expected to deliver them.
