Isabell Kearn
Honours Health Sciences student at McMaster University with interests in health equity, medical-education access and community-driven solutions to barriers in care.

Biography
Isabell Kearn is a Health Sciences student at McMaster University and a research assistant with interests in hematology, women’s health and clinical applications of machine learning. Her research experience includes collaborations in blood science, cancer-associated thrombosis, evidence synthesis and guideline-oriented knowledge translation.
One strand of her scholarship examines the role of red blood cells in thrombosis. In 2026, she co-authored reviews exploring red-blood-cell biomechanics in cancer-associated thrombosis and the ways erythrocyte heterogeneity may influence thrombus architecture and treatment response.
These studies examine red blood cells not simply as passive components of circulation, but as biological participants whose physical characteristics can influence clot formation and potentially the behaviour of thrombotic disease.
Isabell has also contributed to the international e-Chronic Pain Recommendation Map initiative. That collaboration is developing an accessible digital platform to bring together, appraise and compare clinical-guideline recommendations while making questions of evidence quality, equity and usability easier to navigate for patients, clinicians, policymakers and researchers.
Her broader research experience has also included contribution to qualitative analysis within women’s-health research, adding another methodological dimension to a profile that crosses biological, clinical and evidence-synthesis questions.
