From a Training Tool to a National Quality System: What SEVIA Learned at Scale

A remote-review tool can begin as a training aid and then become part of programme infrastructure. SEVIA tested whether smartphone-supported supervision and monitoring could operate across a much larger cervical-screening network. The system supported remote image review, quality improvement and real-time programme data, but substantial referral loss to follow-up remained visible. The study shows both the value and the limit of strengthening one node in a prevention pathway: better screening quality cannot repair an unconnected downstream system.
