Women’s Health, Cancer & Reproductive Equity

Overview

Women's health is often described as a collection of services - vaccination, screening, antenatal care, cancer treatment, reproductive health. WEMA's work treats those services as connected pathways. A programme succeeds not simply because a test is available or a woman reaches a clinic, but because prevention, communication, diagnosis, referral, treatment and follow-up work together in ways that are understandable, acceptable and reachable.

This Theme brings together research on cervical and breast cancer prevention, HPV vaccination, self-sampling, digital screening quality, treatment linkage, maternal-health access and the social conditions that shape reproductive choice. Across these areas, the recurring problem is not only whether an intervention works under ideal conditions, but whether the health system can deliver it reliably across different geographies, life stages and communities - including women who face distance, cost, stigma, fragmented services or limited specialist access.
