Twenty Patients Showed What Acute Peritoneal Dialysis Could Make Possible

Once an acute peritoneal-dialysis service existed, the next question was whether it could actually deliver renal replacement to critically ill patients. Sixteen of the 20 patients survived to hospital discharge, showing that the new service could deliver acute renal replacement in a setting where it had previously been unavailable. The study provides direct patient-level evidence of operational delivery and links technical capability to a broader pathway of recognition, referral and trained care.
