Queen’s University is the academic home of Karen Yeates and provides an important institutional foundation for much of the collaborative research connected to WEMA Inc. Across many projects, Queen’s supports the structures that allow international research to operate responsibly, including research governance, ethics processes, financial administration, institutional agreements, study sponsorship where applicable, research management and accountability. At the same time, the scientific work itself remains collaborative and distributed across the universities, hospitals, health systems, researchers and communities participating in each programme.

How we work together

Queen’s provides academic leadership and institutional infrastructure while Karen and collaborating investigators connect research teams and programmes across Canada, Africa and other settings.

Contribution to the collaboration

The university helps provide continuity, governance and institutional support across a wide research portfolio, allowing international partnerships to function within clear scientific, ethical and administrative frameworks.
